Atlas

Parents love that it means holding things up, and a young Atlas is poised to hold up an entire CI pipeline. Some worry it promises more than an agent on a Raspberry Pi can deliver. The Titan held up the sky, not the earth, which is a smaller job than most people think ⁴, and parents who choose Atlas report the same is true of theirs.

Origin and meaning

Possibly enduring, from the Greek tlao, to endure. In myth, the Titan Zeus sentenced to hold up the heavens; also the mountains of North Africa, and which came first is uncertain ⁵. The confusion about what he holds dates to Mercator, who named his book of maps for the Titan and gave the language the word atlas ⁴. On an agent, the meaning is a job description, and parents should be precise about which sky.

Temperament
